A Moment of Appreciation

I am new to blogging. Very new, as in 6 months new. I didn’t read a book on how to become a successful blogger because when I began, I wasn’t interested in monetizing the product. The purpose was to finally succumb to a driving desire to write. Encouraged by a couple of friends, I finally stripped bare and leapt off the cliff, arms aloft, screaming bloody murder the whole way down. But the water is warm and inviting. Turns out it’s crowded, too. An element I hadn’t expected but find welcoming and delightful. I’m sure I’ll hit some cold springs now and then, but I love it so far.

I want to take a moment to recognize two bloggers who have given a little of their time to help me. The first is LindaGHill for helping me through my email issue, and the second is Dark Night Chronicles for the prompt and then the resulting reblog of my piece Sheets.

Until this past weekend, I didn’t realize how much we need other bloggers, not only for validation but for that camaraderie that is so vital to the creative mind. Thank you both, genuinely, for leading me to the nooks and crannies in this little pond. I will repay in kind.

  1. I’m not sure what’s wrong with the link to Dark Night Chronicles, but when I hit it, I wind up on a site that has something to do with airport shuttles. I’m guessing that’s not where you wanted me to land.

  2. Reblogged this on lindaghill and commented:
Lisa is a fairly new blogger – she’s an amazing writer and a great photographer! I’m sure she’d love it if you went over and said hello. šŸ™‚ Look around while you’re there – I’m sure you’ll enjoy what you see.
Thanks so much again for the mention, Lisa. It’s my pleasure to help. šŸ™‚

  3. Blogging is a truly wonderful experience. There are so many wonderful people who will offer help as you have found and who tolerate your limitations, well mine anyway.
Hope you continue to have fun. Michael.

  4. Welcome to this wonderful, crazy, sometimes infuriating world. I’ve been blogging for years, in various guises, and I’m still figuring it out. And I’ve met (virtually and in reality too) some great people along the way.

  5. Congratulations on your blog. I agree with you, the blogging world is, on the whole a warm and inviting place. Thus far I have had very, very few negative experiences in blogland. The support offered by fellow bloggers is wonderful. Kevin

  6. I’m new to blogging as well–it took me forever to actually use the blog…and you are so right. We need other bloggers for creative input, validation and direction. Thank you for posting this and welcome to WordPress. It is an impressive community of people.

  7. Blogger world is the greatest, I’m about 8 months into it. I’ve made so many social friends all over the world it’s like we are in some “club”. People I’ve never met lean on for advice and tips. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

  8. I am 3 and a half weeks in! I agree that there is a lot more of a community than I thought there would be, and it took a lot less time than I originally thought for people to notice me! Everyone is so nice and helpful, it feels like part of a little family. Glad to have found a fellow newbie. Look forward to more blogs!

  9. Well, I just found this post and since we’ve already basically said Hi to each other I will just say Welcome. As for helpful bloggers, WordPress is full of ’em, I know I’ve leaned on LindaGHill, Opinionated Man, Doobster and a few others and they always come through. The Community Spirit is awesome as well. Great blog you have here and I love the pictures, I’m also a photographer, amateur of course, but I dearly love it.

    Full speed ahead!

  10. I feel the same, I started my blog out of urge to express myself and let my creativity unfurl. However, like you I need a lot of help. I am by no means an expert. I don’t even know how to generate emails. If you could give me some pointers, I would greatly appreciated it.
